Jaw
By Georgia Bowan
Did you have more to say? When I acted harshly, pushed you away?
Or was the silence all that could escape from your swollen trachea?
I heard your jaw click like you were being held back by a silent phrase.
Oh, how I longed to shove my fingers down your throat and free the words lodged inside.
Do you think you’ll ever see me again? All you’d have to do is ask.
Maybe, I will see you naked one day, maybe sit on your knee like a baby.
Will it matter, or will you have a wife and child by then?
No, you’re probably right.
Probably not.
